All children in Yellowstone and Carbon Counties are eligible for enrollment at Head Start, Inc. if they meet the income guidelines but the families and children with the highest need are served first. We determine need based on income and benefits information such as tax returns, W2’s, check stubs, child support statements, school financial aid statements, TANF, SSI, SSDI, and WIC statements, tribal income, and other sources of income. We also consider a child’s family network, immigration status, housing situation, and any special or unique needs.
A small percentage of children enrolled in Head Start, Inc.’s services are over-income, but 90% of Head Start, Inc.’s admitted students must be income eligible.

We encourage all parents to be involved with their child’s education and experience at Head Start, Inc. After enrollment is complete, each family will be assigned a Family Advocate who will complete at least two home visits throughout the school year. We also have at least two parent conferences with your student’s teacher each year. Beyond these meetings, we encourage parents to volunteer in their child’s classroom, attend field trips, take part in meal time, and attend fun family activities in the evenings or on the weekends.
Head Start, Inc. provides transportation to families in need who live over a mile away from their Head Start, Inc. school.
