We start ensuring quality with a child’s most important relationship at Head Start – their relationship with their Teacher and Teaching Assistant. Every Teacher and Teaching Assistant must have Early Childhood Education credentials and are qualified to perform all classroom and family-oriented functions.
Billings School District #2 partners with our staff by providing Special Ed Teachers, Aides, and Speech Pathologists, on-site, at our Terry Park and North Park locations. We are able to serve children with special needs at any of our locations in partnership with families, school districts throughout Yellowstone and Carbon counties, and the Special Services Cooperatives.
Our Teachers are dedicated, inventive educators who use their resources wisely. This starts with a toolbox of teaching strategies called Creative Curriculum. Creative Curriculum encourages teachers to implement project-based learning. These projects center around questions children ask every day, such as, why is a ball round or why do cars drive on the road. Our Education Staff know that when students are curious about what they are learning, they are more likely to be engaged and active participants in their education. Encouraging the natural imagination of our Head Start students ensures their educational success as they get ready for kindergarten.
At Head Start, we believe that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. To help your child succeed in school this year, download the 2020-2021 Parent Handbook for this year’s calendar of events and tips on how to build your child’s school readiness.
